Keeping disrespect to a minimum

Hello!

Have you ever come away from an interaction feeling disappointed - because you were left waiting, or your views were simply ignored, or for some other reason?

This month’s newsletter is aimed at minimising disrespect. Because it matters.

10 Ways to Show and Give Respect in the Workplace.

If we want to avoid damaging colleague and customer relationships we can start by mastering the obvious…

  1. Listen actively - put away devices, make eye contact, let people finish their thought.

  2. Acknowledge others’ time; start and end meetings on schedule.

  3. Give credit publicly for others’ ideas and contributions.

  4. Ask for input before decisions that affect someone’s work, not after.

  5. Communicate directly and kindly instead of talking about someone behind their back.

  1. Honour boundaries - respect part-time hours, out-of-work hours, and personal space.

  2. Follow through on communications; a broken promise reads as disrespect.

  3. Give feedback privately and constructively, not as public criticism.

  4. Value differing perspetives and backgrounds instead of dismissing them.

  5. Say thank you specifically and often - name what they did, not just “good job”.

YOO MUSE Events

We are bringing together peers from the industry for “Culture” an event exploring the real link between workplace wellbeing and compliance culture, featuring an expert in the regulatory compliance space, and a bestselling author and 2x TEDx speaker who has delivered talks to the likes of Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, and the BBC.

We are inviting a small number of partners to get involved as we shape the session. If you’d like to hear more about our open partnership opportunities, reply to this email to get in touch with Katherine.

It will be informative, informal and fun!
