Influential Mentoring Relationships

Who famously mentored Mark Zuckerberg?

AI Generated Image

According to several sources online, before passing away in 2011, Steve Jobs mentored Mark Zuckerberg.

Bill Gates was another mentor in which Zuckerberg was fortunate enough to have on his contact list, according to this article.

Another influential mentorship relationship to note was between Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. Interestingly, both Buffett and Gates stated in the past that their meeting was initially not of choice and that they were both reluctant to spend time with each other, wondering what they would have to talk about and why they should take time out of their day to be polite. But they hit it off, and Buffett challenged Gates with questions that made him think about things differently regarding IBM and Microsoft.

Mentoring Statistics 2024

The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.”

Other News

The YOO MUSE Mentorship & Wellbeing Programme launched on 1st April 2025.

Our Mentor & Wellbeing Champions met on Thursday 3rd April to kick off the launch of the programme.

A special thanks to Druces LLP for hosting our event.

There was a focus on ‘wellbeing’ and we discussed what it means to support a mentees’ wellbeing. It was clear that everyone in the room is keen to start their mentor/mentee relationship and, as a team of mentors, they have access to each other’s experience also to further strengthen the support they can give in their own mentorship relationships.

It was great to get the Mentor & Wellbeing Champions together to connect and also hear from Druces' very own Head of People, Deena Bowman, who inspired us with her top tips on being a mentoring and wellbeing champion. Deena has lots of experience in mentoring and is also an AOEC qualified executive coach and Mental Health First Aider so her insights were valuable with some key take aways for us all.
